As the affinity bar association for South Asian legal professionals, SABAW has been a fixture in the Washington-area legal community for over 20 years.  We serve as a liaison between South Asian legal professionals, law students, and the legal community at large, providing opportunities for our members to engage in community outreach and involvement. Our members include local judges, lawmakers, attorneys at law firms of all sizes, government attorneys, and in-house counsel.

Each year, SABAW hosts a variety of professional and social events for our members, including mentorship initiatives and happy hours. Our marquee event – the Annual Gala – brings together legal professionals from across Washington to celebrate Washington’s South Asian legal community and the accomplishments of its members. Past speakers at the Annual Gala include judges, lawmakers, and community leaders.

SABAW also offers scholarships and stipends every year to law students and recent graduates. In prior years, our scholarships have been awarded to students who have demonstrated leadership in service to the South Asian community, or an

interest in public interest work. In recent years, SABAW has distributed tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships and stipends, and we hope to continue supporting our community in this manner in 2023 and beyond.
